Kentucky man sentenced in sex case involving 16-year-old Franklin girl

A Kentucky man who traveled to Franklin in March 2009 to pick up a 16-year-old runaway was sentenced Tuesday to 11 years in prison, according to a Franklin police.

Ian Nelson, 28, was convicted in a Williamson County court of aggravated statutory rape, solicitation of a minor for sexual activity, exploitation of a minor by electronic means, solicitation of a minor for aggravated statutory rape, three counts of production of child pornography and two counts of solicitation of a minor for sexual exploitation.

Nelson will spend a minimum of eight years in the state penitentiary before becoming eligible for parole or probation.

He met the victim online, police say. She was found with him in his semi-truck in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Ill., 10 days after Nelson picked her up from her Franklin home.

Franklin police extradited Nelson from Kane County Jail in Illinois and booked him into the Williamson County Jail in May 2009.

While free on bond, Nelson re-established contact with the Franklin teen and was re-arrested in October 2009, police say. He was kept in the county jail until the court appearance.

Nelson lived at 673 Covered Bridge Road in Wallington, Ky., at the time of his arrest.
