Burns man pleads guilty to raping children

A Burns man entered a guilty plea for child rape Friday in Dickson County Circuit Court and has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Robert Lumpkin, 32, of Burns, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual battery and aggravated sexual exploitation between Feb. 1, 2013 and March 1, 2014 with a 10-year-old child and an 8-year-old child, according to Dickson County court records.

The children reported the crimes during an interview with the Child Advocacy Center .

Lumpkin also possessed more than 100 images of minors engaged in sexual activity, and did "employ, use, assist, transport and permit a minor to participate in the performance or in the production of material which includes the minor engaging in sexual activity," according to court records.

Lumpkin was arrested by then-Burns Police Chief Paul McCallister on March 27 last year.

During the investigation of Lumpkin, police found evidence that culminated with incest charges against Lumpkin's girlfriend and her stepfather.
